The 2024 Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World 2024 in Ottawa opens with a scientific event

On the occasion of the Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World, the Scientific Attaché of the Italian Embassy in Ottawa, Prof. Costanza Conti, organized at the headquarters of the Royal Society of Canada a scientific afternoon entitled “Health Impact of the Mediterranean Diet”.

Among the speakers: Prof. Banducci of Carleton University in Ottawa, an archaeologist and co-director of the Gabii Legacy Data Project – a project carried out in collaboration with the Soprintendenza Speciale Archeologia, Belle Arti e Paesaggio di Roma -; Prof. ssa Matar of the University of Ottawa, an expert in nutrition and immunology; Prof. Di Marzo, professor at Université Laval in Quebec and associate director of research at the Institute of Biomolecular Chemistry of the National Research Council in Naples; and Dr. Roussel, a researcher under the direction of Prof. Di Marzo. The event was closed by a panel discussion moderated by Dr. Yaseem, a researcher at the U.S. think tank “Wilson Centre” and an expert on sustainable food systems.

The initiative, which was highly appreciated by the qualified audience present, particularly for the level of the speeches and the importance of the topic, ended with a networking meeting between Italian and Canadian researchers in Ottawa.

To close the celebrations for the Week of the Italian Cuisine in the World, a gala dinner will be held at the Rideau Club in Ottawa on November 26th by Michelin-starred Chef Daniele Corona and the Italian Embassy Chef Cristian Lepore.
