The Ambassador of Italy to Canada, H.E. Alessandro Cattaneo, spoke yesterday at the opening of the exhibition “Leonardo Da Vinci – 500 Years of Genius” at TheMuseum in Kitchener, Ontario.
Organized with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Ottawa, the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto, the Italian Cultural Institute in Toronto, ICE Canada, and ENIT Toronto, the exhibition offers an immersive journey through the life and diverse scientific and artistic pursuits of the Tuscan genius.
A large audience and numerous local officials attended the opening, including Ontario’s Minister of Natural Resources, the Honorable Mike Harris, and Kitchener Mayor Berry Vrbanovic.
In his remarks, Ambassador Cattaneo highlighted the enduring relevance of Leonardo’s multidisciplinary approach and of many of his insights, noting that the Canadian public’s interest in this extraordinary scientist and artist serves as an inspiration at a time when scientific, technological, and industrial ties between Italy and Canada are being significantly strengthened.
In this regard, the Ambassador specifically mentioned the Italy-Canada Business Forum, scheduled to take place at the Globe and Mail Centre in Toronto on October 29.
