Ambassador Cattaneo attends the inauguration of Ferrero’s new production line in Canada

Ambassador 4

The Ambassador of Italy to Canada, Alessandro Cattaneo, attended today the inauguration of Ferrero’s new production line at its facility in Brantford, Ontario, together with the Consul General of Italy in Toronto, Luca Zelioli.

Ferrero has once again chosen Canada, with an investment worth CAD 445 million aimed at expanding its production in the country. In addition to starting the production of Nutella Biscuits, a brand-new product was also launched: Ferrero Rocher Chocolate Squares, which will be produced exclusively in Ontario. The expansion of Ferrero’s operations will lead to the creation of 500 new jobs, adding to the approximately 1,300 already existing at the Brantford facilities.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Cattaneo highlighted that Ferrero’s investment is an extraordinary show of confidence and commitment by the company toward the Canadian market, where it has been investing for over 40 years. This decision is especially significant in light of the current climate of uncertainty in international trade. The Ambassador also emphasized that Ferrero’s investment represents a great example of Made in Italy success, which in Canada combines with a highly skilled workforce and access to high-quality local raw materials. The decision is also in line with the inclusion of Canada in the Export Plan recently launched by Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Antonio Tajani, aimed at strengthening the Italian presence in key markets, and aligns with Canada’s commercial diversification strategy.

The inauguration was also attended by Ontario Premier Doug Ford, several provincial Ministers, and representatives of Invest Ontario, the provincial agency that contributed to Ferrero’s investment.
