The Ambassador of Italy to Canada, Alessandro Cattaneo, is on an official visit to Québec City, where he will stay until this evening to attend a number of institutional meetings.
Ambassador Cattaneo, assisted by the Consul General of Italy in Montreal, Enrico Pavone, was received by the President of the National Assembly of Québec, Nathalie Roy, who invited him to attend a session of the Assembly; on this occasion, the Italian flag was raised on the Assembly building.
During the mission, Ambassador Cattaneo attended working meetings, among others, with the Minister for the Economy, Christopher Skeete, the Minister of Culture and Communications, Mathieu Lacombe, and the Minister of International Relations and La Francophonie, Martine Biron.
The discussions focused on how to further strengthen the excellent economic and commercial partnership already in place between Italy and Québec, as well as the close collaboration in areas of common interest, such as artificial intelligence, energy, infrastructure, and critical minerals, also thanks to the synergies between the various actors of the Italian System present locally and Québec institutions.
The bilateral collaboration in the cultural, artistic, and academic fields was also a central topic of discussion, with particular attention given to the MAXXI exhibition “Buone Nuove” organized at the Design Centre of the University of Montreal (UQAM), upcoming initiatives in the museum sector, and projects in the fields of science and education, particularly concerning the teaching of the Italian language in Québec’s schools and universities.
