Ms. Scano then highlighted the close link between Italian language and culture and explained how mastering Italian enables people to understand and appreciate the peculiar nuances of our enormous artistic, cinematographic, architectural, musical and culinary, as well as literary, heritage. Finally, Ms. Scano stressed Italy’s attractiveness also in the field of research and technological innovation, which is an important incentive for young people to study our language.
For the celebration of the 2024 Week of the Italian Language in the World, the Embassy has also launched a literary contest for Italian language students at Ottawa University. Over the next week, the best essays will be awarded on occasion of the presentation of the book “Echoes of growing up Italian” by Italian-Canadian writer Gina Valle at the University.
