“Italia Contemporanea”: a new series on contemporary art in Italy

Unexpected, little known, but charged with iconic power and exceptional scenic quality: they are the contemporary art spaces of Italy – the stars of the new documentary series Italia Contemporanea created by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with Sky Arte, and executive produced by TIWI.

Host Nicolas Ballario, art critic and journalist, leads viewers on a discovery of contemporary art in Italy, exploring its most representative works and famous museums as well as its more secret or elusive spaces – from repurposed factories to open-air galleries. He criss-crosses Italy, stopping to speak with respected contemporary artists, curators, and art historians of today’s art scene.

Watch Italia Contemporanea, launched on Sky on May 8. Each of the 4 episodes, subtitled in English, French, and Spanish, will be available on-demand and streaming on NOW, and free of charge on Video Sky Arte and on the Italiana Vimeo channeltaliana Vimeo channel.
