Interested young people from around the world have until March 1st to apply to participate in Youth4 Climate: Driving Ambition the first such event reserved for world youth, to be held in Milan from September 28 to 30, 2021. The global meeting, which will precede COP26 in Glasgow on November 1 to 12, will be dedicated to global action on climate change.

Two participants will be selected from each of the 197 countries of the UNFCCC, which includes Canada. Up to 400 young people are expected, in an equitable representation of gender, geographical balance, and social inclusion.

The first two days of Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition will be dedicated to working groups on different topics, while the third will feature face-to-face discussions between youth delegates and the government ministers taking part in the Preparatory Conference to take place in Milan the following two days.

Participation is open to youth leaders for climate action between the ages of 15 and 29. As part of their application, candidates will be asked to illustrate their prior activities in the areas of climate change action and sustainable development.

Also part of Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition are nine virtual events of the Youth4ClimateLive Series, designed to illustrate the progress of negotiations within the UNFCCC as well the outcomes of the major youth meetings.
