“True North. Viaggio dentro l’identità del Canada” by Fabrizio Nava

That Canada is a dynamic and modern country and one of the best and most advanced examples of a multicultural society, is certainly not news. So it is hard to believe that one of the major concerns for Canadians is the definition of their national identity, one that distinguishes them from the rest of the world.

What is the Canadian identity? How does the country experience its bilingualism? How significant is a relationship with nature for those living in the Land of the Maple Leaf? What does the North mean to Canadians? What great events marked the evolution of this State, which is different from the Nation, the former being the larger entity, capable of containing the latter without being consumed by it?

This and more will be among the topics discussed on February 28 at 2:00 p.m. EDT at the virtual launch of the book by Fabrizio Nava, “True North. Viaggio dentro l’identità del Canada” published by Rubbettino.

Organized by the Dante Alighieri Society of Ottawa, with the collaboration of the Italian Cultural Institutes in Montreal and Toronto, the webinar will be presented in Italian. The Italian Ambassador to Canada, Claudio Taffuri, will be in attendance.

This is a free event, however registration is required.

*** Fabrizio Nava served at the Embassy of Italy in Canada for a total of 8 years in various capacities, most recently as Deputy Chief of Mission. In this virtual return, he will share with us what led him to write this book and why he felt that it was important to do so.
