November 5: Italian Design Day

Italian Design Day is the annual theme-based review launched in 2017 by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration and with the support of the Ministry of Heritage, Cultural Activities and Tourism.

IDD offers an extensive program of promotional events created by the network of Embassies, Consulates, Italian Cultural Institutes, and ICE Offices abroad, and has established itself over the years as an important initiative to support the promotion of design and the internationalization of a strategic industry sector for Italian exports. Every year to mark the occasion, 100 different testimonials speak to Italian design and creativity around the world.

The theme of the 2020 Italian Design Day is “Drawing the Future. Development, Innovation, Sustainability and Beauty” and it is closely linked to the ability of Italian design and the extended Made in Italy system to be proactive, to envisage consistently new development scenarios, able to go beyond self-referential rhetoric and keep the improvement of our lives and the protection of the planet at the centre of its thinking. This is an even more timely issue given the health emergency that we are all currently experiencing.
