Gentiloni: the Budget Committee has taken a major step forward for development cooperation

“This is a major step forward showing the Government’s commitment to international development aid. The amendment, which was approved yesterday, acknowledges the urgency of investing in international cooperation.”
This was the comment made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Paolo Gentiloni, on the approval by the Chamber of Deputees’ Budget Committee of the amendment to the budget bill, which includes the Italian Development Cooperation Agency (AICS) among the beneficiaries of the ‘Public Employment Fund’.
In particular, the allocation to the Fund will increase by 800,000 euros in 2017, and by 3 million euros in 2018. This will enable AICS to call a competition for the recruitment of 60 experts to coordinate and implement Italian Cooperation projects in the world.
