The agrifood sector – an international player

A seminar took place today on “The agrifood industry in the Emilia-Romagna Region and its global reach amidst trade barriers, the Brexit, and international agreements” at the Fiera di Bologna trade show. The event, the fourth of its kind this year, was organised by the Emilia Romagna Region and designed to promote a fruitful discussion on the competitiveness of the region’s agri-food products on international markets, especially in a situation which is constantly changing, due to unclear post-Brexit prospects and the rounds of TTIP negotiations. The seminar had the contributions of Euro MP Paolo De Castro, a member of the European Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI), several representatives of the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Bank of Italy, and the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (UCSC) in Piacenza. The Farnesina was represented by the Director-General for Cultural and Economic Promotion and Innovation, Vincenzo De Luca, who illustrated Italy’s global marketing strategy for the agri-food sector.
