Minister Gentiloni phones new British Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson

Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni had a telephone conversation with the new British Foreign Secretary, Boris Johnson. The talk was an opportunity to wish him well in his new job as head of the Foreign Office in view of intensive cooperation on foreign policy issues. Minister Gentiloni plans to meet Mr Johnson next week in London to exchange views on Syria and then again in Washington for the summit of the anti-ISIS global coalition.
During their phone conversation, Minister Gentiloni reiterated Italy’s intention to conduct negotiations for the UK’s exit from the European Union from a stance of friendly cooperation. He also asked the British government for clarity on the timeframe and procedures for the Brexit negotiations
