“The recent developments in Libya are encouraging,” said Paolo Gentiloni, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Mr Gentiloni continued: “The decision adopted by the members of the Government of National Salvation and by the large majority of the Congress of Tripoli to support the Presidential Council and the Government of National Accord go in the desired direction of restoring the institutional framework and bringing it back under the scope of the Political Agreement signed in Skhirat, thus privileging the goal of a united, stable and safe Libya over discord.”
“I hope that a compromising spirit will prevail among all the parties involved and that the House of Representatives pass a vote of confidence in favour of the Government of National Accord. The Presidential Council and the Libyan people can count on Italy’s full support,” concluded the minister.
