The Ambassador of Italy to Canada, Alessandro Cattaneo, visited yesterday the Italian pavilion at Aeromart in Montreal, one of the main international events in the aerospace sector.

ITA organized the participation of 16 Italian companies, joined by 17 companies from the Campania Region. These joint efforts made Italy the most represented European country at the fair, with a total of 37 participants.

On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Cattaneo opened the roundtable “Italy-Québec: A Space for Opportunities” organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Montreal with the support of ITA. In his speech, Ambassador Cattaneo highlighted the significant increase in trade between Canada and Italy in the aerospace sector, within the context of renewed bilateral cooperation, facilitated by the Memorandum signed by the two space agencies in 2021.

In front of an audience of about 100 industry professionals, the dialogue between Italian and Canadian aerospace sector stakeholders was animated by the Italian research center CIRA, the Quebec research center CRIAQ, the Aéromontréal cluster, the Campania Region, and the aerospace consortium of the Emilia-Romagna region.

The Italian companies attending Aeromart have established expertise in the aerospace sector and operate in various sub-sectors, including engineering, automation, robotics and artificial intelligence, mechanical processing, raw and finished components, assembly, testing, drilling and laser welding, quality control, surface treatment, mechanical and 3D prototyping, production systems and special processes, integrated aerospace structures assembly, maintenance, repair, and overhaul of aircraft and electronic and digital systems.

Aeromart also provided the setting to announce the five-year partnership agreement between the Campania-based company DeAms and the Canadian multinational Bombardier, with an initial project that includes the creation of a DeAms branch in Montreal and the design and construction of automated lifting platforms, with an initial total value of 1.5 million dollars.
