The pandemic brought unprecedented change to our lives, forcing us to rethink our habits and our day-to-day activities. Among those, work figured prominently of course, because we devote a significant portion of our lives to it. And if for many of us work is still seen as a “necessary evil,” it is partly because of a lack of attention in the design of the places and spaces where we spend much of our day. It is anachronistic in modern society to maintain a clear distinction between work and private life, between home and office, but we need to look at alternative models of social and production organization, models that are more focused on personal well-being and on the environment. Urban planning, architecture, and design are key to reaching these goals, and their contribution is fundamental to achieving the right balance between the many components of wellness, sustainability, and progress.
On the occasion of the Italian Design Day 2022, “Re-Generation. Design and new technologies for a sustainable future” We are pleased to announce that the Embassy of Italy in Canada, in collaboration with Progetto CMR of Milan and Diamond Schmitt Architects of Toronto, will host a webinar entitled “LIVING, WORKING, BREATHING – Design Tomorrow’s Workplace”.
The esteemed panelists will examine how the concept of the workplace is changing, particularly after the pandemic, with a focus on how architecture and design, as well as urban planning, can contribute to improve our lives, health, wellbeing and consequently our productivity. They will discuss how Italy and Canada are addressing these challenges in line with the UN’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
The webinar will be in English and will take place on March 24th, 2022 at 12pm EDT (5pm CET).
