The Ambassador of Italy to Canada, Alessandro Cattaneo, took part on October 4 and 5 in a number of important events with the Italian-Canadian community in Ontario — a large and dynamic community, active at the highest levels in local political, business, and cultural spheres.

On the evening of October 4th, Ambassador Cattaneo was the guest of honour — alongside Canada’s Ambassador to the United Nations, Bob Rae, and accompanied by the Consul General in Toronto, Luca Zelioli — at the Annual President’s Ball, a gala event organized by the Canadian Italian Business Professional Association (CIBPA) of Toronto, to celebrate its 73rd anniversary. The event, which also featured the participation of Secretary of State for Labour John Zerucelli, Parliamentary Secretary for Crime Reduction Vince Gasparro, Ontario’s Minister of Energy and Mines Stephen Lecce, and several federal and provincial parliamentarians, included the presentation of awards to six Italian-Canadian entrepreneurs and professionals who distinguished themselves in their respective fields in 2025.

The following day, Ambassador Cattaneo visited the Italian Centre in Hamilton and held various meetings with local figures. The day concluded with a concert of Italian opera arias organized by the association Festitalia — which is dedicated to promoting Italian cultural heritage — as part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.
