The Consular Office of the Embassy of Italy in Ottawa only accepts visa applications from users residing in the City of Ottawa, the Outaouais region and the counties of Carleton, Dundas, Glengarry, Grenville, Prescott, Russell and Stormont.

Residents located in the aforementioned consular district aiming to apply for a visa will need to schedule an appointment through the portal Prenot@mi.

Travel Document for Refugees and Certificate of Identity 

Holders of a Canadian Travel Document for refugees (Geneva Convention of July 28, 1951) and holders of a Canadian Certificate of Identity DO NOT NEED A VISA TO ENTER ITALY for short term stay (e.g. for tourism or business purposes for up to 90 days) or for transit.

Note: It is up to the applicant to check with other relevant Schengen Countries if the above documents are accepted, even for transit purposes.
