On the occasion of the meeting of the G7 Ministers of Industry, Digital Affairs and Technology, held in Montreal on December 8 and 9, the Deputy Minister for Enterprises and Made in Italy, Hon. Valentino Valentini, took part in a roundtable on artificial intelligence, promoted by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada and the Consulate General of Italy in Montreal, with the support of the Embassy of Italy in Ottawa.
The roundtable offered an opportunity to discuss – together with representatives of the Canadian government and sector experts – the evolution of bilateral cooperation in this strategic field, with a focus on ongoing initiatives such as the Canada-Italy Joint Advisory Group on AI, launched in 2024 within the framework of the Roadmap for Enhanced Cooperation signed at the G7 in Borgo Egnazia. The roundtable also served as a follow-up to the annual Italy-Canada AI Forum, organized by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Canada with the support of the Sistema Italia.

The visit of Deputy Minister Valentini, accompanied by Ambassador Cattaneo, continued in Toronto, where the Deputy Minister spoke at a seminar on attracting investment to Italy, organized by ITA in Toronto, with the participation of major Canadian pension funds and institutional investors. The event provided an opportunity to highlight Italy as an ideal destination for Canadian investments.
Subsequently, Hon. Valentini chaired a meeting of the “Sistema Italia” in Canada, focused on the main opportunities offered by the current context and on the strategies to be adopted to strengthen the presence of Italian companies in the country.
After a meeting with ministers and representatives of the provincial government of Ontario, Deputy Minister Valentini finally inaugurated “Spazio Camera,” the new headquarters of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Ontario, located in the heart of Toronto, in the presence of the Consul General in Toronto Luca Zelioli, the Italian and Canadian business communities, and numerous local political representatives, including Hon. Vince Gasparro and the provincial Ministers of Justice, Michael Tibollo, and of Energy and Mines, Stephen Lecce.
