On the occasion of the 25th edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, the Embassy of Italy in Canada organized, on October 15 at Carleton University in Ottawa, a theatrical performance in Italian inspired by the youth story Amore & Cappuccino, staged by students of the University’s Italian program.
The celebrations continued on October 21 with an event at the Embassy’s Conference Hall dedicated to the Italian-Canadian author and former President of the Association of Italian-Canadian Writers, Licia Canton, who was the evening’s special guest.
At the end of both events, the winners of the literary contest My First Word in Italian – in line with the 2025 theme of the Week of the Italian Language in the World: Italophony: Language Beyond Borders – launched by the Embassy among Italian-language students from Carleton University and the University of Ottawa were awarded.
During the Week, the Embassy also launched a digital campaign on its social media profiles highlighting unique and untranslatable expressions of the Italian language, which received enthusiastic engagement, particularly from younger audiences.
The celebrations for the Week of the Italian Language will continue in November with a film series featuring Italian movies made available by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in collaboration with Rai Com.
