23rd edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World – Talk with Prof. Granata and photo exhibit “Calvino here and elsewhere”

On the occasion of the 23rd edition of the Week of the Italian Language in the World, focused this year on sustainability, and the centenary of the birth of Italo Calvino, the Embassy of Italy in Canada organized yesterday at the National Arts Centre, an important cultural and artistic institution in Ottawa, a lecture by Prof. Paolo Granata. Granata is an Associate Professor in Book and Media Studies at St. Michael’s College in the University of Toronto and an esteemed scholar of cultural strategies, communication, ecology and media ethics, and presented the great Italian writer and his Six Memos for the Next Millennium in an innovative way, dwelling on various aspects related to communication and the concept of « digital sustainability, » to an audience of 150 participants. The lecture was followed by refreshments, accompanied by the fascinating photo exhibit « Calvino qui e altrove » on the historical covers of the Italian author’s major works translated into foreign languages, provided and promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
