The Ambassador of Italy to Canada is seeking to recruit a Housekeeper for his Residence in Gatineau, Québec.
This is a full-time position, subject to a probationary period, and will start as soon as possible.
Roles and Responsibilities
The precise range of duties will vary over time, but will include the following:
- Overall management of day-to-day running of the Residence
- Cleaning of kitchen, food preparation areas and all kitchen equipment to a high standard
- Care and management of all assets in the Residence
- Set-up, organization, serving, and tidy-up of events
- Help in preparation of meals and catering of functions including receptions, buffets, sit down breakfasts, lunches and dinners
- To provide coffee/tea and meeting facilities upon request
- Supervision of the Residence premises, including liaison with security, landscaping, and other contractors and delivery operatives on site
- First line maintenance and liaising with Embassy on maintenance and contracts
- Day-to-day cleaning of the public and private areas of the Residence
- Laundry – including washing, ironing and steaming
- Answering the door/telephone and taking messages
- Upkeep of the immediate external areas (patio and walkways)
- Occasional front of-house duties at official events to support the wider team
- Out of hours work when required
- Notification of any repairs and maintenance required.
Essential Requirements candidates must be able to demonstrate
- Experience working in hospitality
- Fluency in English
- High degree of integrity and trust
- Reliable and can work on own initiative
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational and management skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Candidates must have the right to live and work in Canada at time of application
Terms and conditions of employment
- The successful candidate will be hired for a probation period of two weeks. Upon successful completion of probation, the employee shall receive the final contract
- Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, with standard office hours from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm
- The salary will be determined according to qualifications and experience
- The position will require regular out of hours work in the evening/at weekend to be agreed in advance
- A live-in accommodation may be considered.
