The Embassy of Italy in Canada is pleased to announce the establishment of the Embassy Scientific Council (CSA), a new advisory body of the Embassy that aims to provide support to the office of the Scientific Attaché in the promotion, dissemination and sharing of information relevant to our scientific and research community.
Specifically, the CSA provides the Scientific Attaché information on important and current issues relevant to the Italian scientific community operating in Italy and Canada. It also contributes to the exchange of information on education, research and development projects and/or experiences taking place in the two countries, and suggests ideas to enhance the exchange of information among the scientific communities as well as useful ideas for networking of Italian researchers in Canada.
The CSA also collaborates with the Embassy in the evaluation procedure of the first edition of the “Ingegno Italiano Award”, launched with the idea of enhancing the Italian researchers active in Canada who have distinguished themselves for having honored the “Ingegno Italiano”.
The CSA collaborates with the Institute of Italian Culture in Montreal and with the Institute of Toronto whose Directors are part of the Council. The rest of the members of the CSA are annually appointed by the Italian Ambassador to Canada on the recommendation of the Scientific Attaché in order to include different disciplines and geographical areas.
Each participant in the CSA performs this role free of charge with a spirit of service to the Italian research community.
Among sone members of the CSA 2023 there are:
Prof. Rolando Del Maestro, Emeritus, McGill University, Montreal (Health Science)
Prof. Gabriel Niccoli, Emeritus, University of Waterloo (Humanities)
Dr. Ing. Franco Mammarella, Directorate, Emeritus – Engineering Services, TRIUMF (Engineering)
