{"id":9277,"date":"2026-03-13T14:32:45","date_gmt":"2026-03-13T13:32:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambottawa.esteri.it\/?p=9277"},"modified":"2026-03-13T14:54:30","modified_gmt":"2026-03-13T13:54:30","slug":"the-ambassador-of-italy-to-canada-alessandro-cattaneo-attends-the-opening-of-the-torlonia-collection-exhibition-in-montreal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambottawa.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2026\/03\/the-ambassador-of-italy-to-canada-alessandro-cattaneo-attends-the-opening-of-the-torlonia-collection-exhibition-in-montreal\/","title":{"rendered":"The Ambassador of Italy to Canada, Alessandro Cattaneo, attends the opening of the Torlonia Collection exhibition in Montreal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"13\" data-end=\"283\">The Ambassador of Italy to Canada, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Alessandro Cattaneo<\/span><\/span>, took part yesterday in the opening events of the exhibition dedicated to the Torlonia Collection marbles, open to the public until July 19 at the prestigious <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Montreal Museum of Fine Arts<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"285\" data-end=\"464\">Organized in collaboration with the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Fondazione Torlonia<\/span><\/span>, the exhibition brings together 58 masterpieces of Roman sculpture from the renowned Torlonia Collection.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"466\" data-end=\"816\">Among those attending the opening vernissage were the Museum\u2019s Director, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">St\u00e9phane Aquin<\/span><\/span>; the Director of the Torlonia Foundation, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Carlotta Loverini Botta<\/span><\/span>; the Director of the Museum Foundation, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Jo-Anne Duchesne<\/span><\/span>; and representatives from Canadian institutional, academic, and cultural circles.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"818\" data-end=\"1475\">Earlier in the morning, Ambassador Cattaneo spoke at the conference <em data-start=\"886\" data-end=\"913\">\u201cItaly: Classical Design\u201d<\/em>, organized by the Consulate General of Italy in Montreal in collaboration with the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Italian Cultural Institute of Montreal<\/span><\/span> as part of the <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Italian Design Day<\/span><\/span>. The initiative featured the participation of <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Salvatore Amura<\/span><\/span>, Director General of <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Valore Italia<\/span><\/span> and appointed <em data-start=\"1245\" data-end=\"1288\">Ambassador of Italian Design in the World<\/em>, as well as Italian and Canadian architects and curators, who explored the theme of the reuse and reinterpretation of Roman marble from Antiquity to contemporary architecture and design.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1477\" data-end=\"1937\">In his remarks, Ambassador Cattaneo highlighted the close cooperation between Italy\u2019s diplomatic-consular network and the Italian Cultural Institutes in Canada and leading Canadian artistic and cultural institutions, including the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
