{"id":5522,"date":"2024-12-03T21:10:42","date_gmt":"2024-12-03T20:10:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambottawa.esteri.it\/?p=5522"},"modified":"2024-12-03T21:11:05","modified_gmt":"2024-12-03T20:11:05","slug":"update-apostille","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambottawa.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2024\/12\/update-apostille\/","title":{"rendered":"UPDATE: Apostille"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Italian Embassy in Ottawa informs all applicants that, following the entry into force in Canada of the\u00a0<strong>Hague Convention on the Apostille (January 11, 2024)<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>this Embassy will cease to legalize Canadian documents by December 31, 2024<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Starting from January 1, 2025,<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>the following MUST be APOSTILLED:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2013 All Canadian civil status (vital records) documents (births, deaths, marriages)*<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 All Canadian certificates and orders (divorce, change of name and\/or last name, adoption and others)*<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 All educational qualifications or professional certificates issued by Schools\/Universities\/Colleges in our consular district (report cards, high school diplomas, bachelor\u2019s, master\u2019s and doctoral diplomas, other types of professional certificates and alike)*<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 All notarial deeds to be enforced in Italy (general and special powers of attorney and other notarial deeds) drawn up by notaries public or lawyers*<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 Criminal records **<\/p>\n<p>\u2013\u00a0Search for Records Letters **<\/p>\n<p>(*) Apostille to be requested to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ontario.ca\/page\/authenticate-document-use-outside-canada\">Ministry of Public and Business Service Delivery of Ontario<\/a>\u00a0if the document was issued or \u201cnotarized\u201d in Ontario.\u00a0Otherwise, to be requested to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.international.gc.ca\/gac-amc\/about-a_propos\/services\/authentication-authentification\/step-etape-1.aspx?lang=eng\">Global Affairs Canada<\/a><\/p>\n<p>(**) Apostille to always be requested to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.international.gc.ca\/gac-amc\/about-a_propos\/services\/authentication-authentification\/step-etape-1.aspx?lang=eng\">Global Affairs Canada<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ATTENTION<\/strong>: the Embassy will continue to legalize translations carried out by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ambottawa.esteri.it\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Traduttori.pdf\">ATIO certified translators whose signature is on file at the Embassy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With reference to notarial deeds, it is specified that a power of attorney drawn up in English or in French and apostilled does not necessarily have to be translated into Italian in Canada.\u00a0The translation can also be done in Italy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"The Italian Embassy in Ottawa informs all applicants that, following the entry into force in Canada of the\u00a0Hague Convention on the Apostille (January 11, 2024),\u00a0this Embassy will cease to legalize Canadian documents by December 31, 2024.
