IMPORTANT NOTICE: <\/strong>As of<\/strong> January 11th<\/sup>, 2024<\/strong>, the\u00a0Apostille Convention<\/strong>\u00a0will come into effect in Canada.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Apostille is a certificate issued by Canadian Authorities and associated with the document it refers to.<\/p>\n

When \u201capostilled\u201d, official documents issued by Canadian Authorities are valid<\/strong>, without further steps,\u00a0in all Countries (including Italy) that are part of the Apostille Convention<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

This means that an official document issued in Canada <\/strong>(e.g., a birth certificate issued in Ontario or a Manitoba Bachelor\u2019s Degree)\u00a0endowed with an Apostille certificate<\/strong> by the relevant Canadian Authorities<\/strong> will not require to be legalized by the Italian Embassy or Consulates<\/u> in Canada<\/strong> to be considered valid in Italy<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This Embassy is NOT responsible for the Apostille. This service is provided exclusively by the relevant Canadian Authorities<\/u><\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Procedures for requesting the Apostille will vary from Province to Province<\/strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Certification or legalization is used to confirm that a signature on a legal document (of a lawyer, notary public, Canadian public service officer, officer of a Canadian academic institution) corresponds to the signature on file at the Consular Office.<\/p>\n

If the signature is not on file with the Consular Office, it must first be authenticated by Global Affairs Canada<\/a>, and the signature of the Global Affairs officer legalized in turn by the Consular Office.<\/p>\n
