The Day of Italian Research in the World is a day dedicated to highlighting the contribution of Italian researchers to international scientific efforts and to promote the dissemination of their results.

On Thursday, April 15, the Italian Cultural Institute and the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto celebrate the Day of Italian Research in the World with a live webinar on cardiac surgery.

Professor Gianluigi Bisleri is a cardiovascular surgeon at St. Michael’s Hospital and an Associate Professor in the Division of Cardiac Surgery at the University of Toronto, as well as a researcher at the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute.

Prof. Bisleri is a graduate of the University of Brescia Medical School in Italy. Following his residency and prestigious fellowships abroad, Prof. Bisleri was a cardiac surgeon at the University of Brescia Medical School (2006-2016) where he became Associate Professor of Surgery, Co-Director of the Arrhythmia Program and Director of the Aortic Surgery Program.

At Queen’s University and the Kingston Health Sciences Centre from 2016 to 2020, Prof. Bisleri contributed to the development of novel approaches for minimally invasive cardiac surgery and the treatment of cardiac arrhythmia.
