IT@CA 2021: Made in Italy Back to the future

On January 28, 2021 at 12:00 pm EDT, the Embassy of Italy in Canada, the Consulate General of Italy in Toronto, the Italian Trade Agency, the Italian Cultural Institute, the Italian National Tourist Board, and the Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario will present the second edition of IT@CA.

This first virtual edition of IT@CA is open to anyone interested in deepening their knowledge of relations between Italy and Canada.

Built around the theme Made in Italy, Back to the Future, IT@CA brings together four internationally renowned Italians from diverse backgrounds: fashion, writing and publishing, medicine, and architecture and engineering, who will share their success stories and talk about how their different sectors are facing the Covid-19 pandemic. The hour-long conversation will be moderated by Canadian journalist and podcaster, Anna Maria Tremonti.

Joining IT@CA this year with their experiences are:

  • Angela Missoni - President and Creative Director, Missoni
  • Antonio Scurati - Writer, author of M. L'uomo della provvidenza and 2019 Strega Prize winner
  • Ilaria Capua - Director of the One Health Center of Excellence at the University of Florida
  • Carlo Ratti - Architect and Engineer, Director of the Senseable City Lab at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT)

"We are delighted to host this first virtual edition of IT@CA, with inspiring speakers who will make this online format empowering, informative, and enlightening," said Claudio Taffuri, Ambassador of Italy to Canada "IT@CA offers an interesting way to get to know Italy better. Through the experiences of well-known successful Italians, I'm convinced that we will not only have the opportunity to briefly travel to our country, but above all, to learn what it does best."

IT@CA was designed to create and foster relations between Italian and Canadian partners, businesses, and investors. Each of the institutions and organizations involved in realization of this event works to promote economic growth and development between the two countries. As one of the many projects developed by Sistema Italia, IT@CA seeks to highlight everything that makes Italy unique, rich in history, art, creativity, and innovation. The goal is to underline the importance of these qualities, which further enrich the longstanding friendship between Italy and Canada.

Presented on Zoom in English and in Italian.

Participation is free of charge, but registration is required.
