#ZEROHACKATHON IS COMING TO FAO – The first marathon of ideas organised by SIOI and the U.S. Diplomatic Missions to foster solutions of young students for a sustainable future

The Italian Society for International Organisation (SIOI – UN Association of Italy), partnered with the U.S. Diplomatic Missions in Italy and the technical support of FAO, is launching “ZeroHackathon”, a competition that will highlight the best proposals of young students for the sustainability of our planet.

160 talented university students coming from all over the world will gather in Rome, at FAO, from November 30 through December 2, and participate to a special event where innovation, creativity and project planning will represent the key to success. The aim is to spot the most original and efficient solutions to the complex and urgent challenges of our century.

Here are the numbers: 20 teams of 8 divided into 5 thematic areas, 10 among technical experts and methodological facilitators, 1 jury. The contestants will have to elaborate original ideas focusing on the theme for World Food Day 2016: “Climate is changing, food and agriculture must too”. The final projects can take any form, as long as they constitute concrete solutions to tackle the main crises that are threatening global stability and help all of us include respect for SDGs in our everyday lives. Only the best team will get to the finish, and their ideas that will win and receive amazing final prizes!

“ZeroHackathon” receives the patronage of numerous Italian institutions and universities. It consists in a great opportunity of valorisation for young students’ education and the enhancement of their abilities and skills.
